Secret Face Masks for India appeal 1000 face masks are distributed to children and adults!
A little background...
As we reported a few weeks ago, we have been working with a brand new Maker Group. Partly situated in West Bengal on the Bangladesh border, the group is based in the Sundarbans, an outstandingly beautiful and remote region of mangrove forest. Being such an isolated part of the world, the area is a key target for gangs of human traffickers and income generating opportunities, especially for women are scarce.
The women have been working with us on our Secret Face Masks for India appeal. Lissy, our Quality Controller and trainer provided online training and, after checking a sample batch, full production began. Learn more here.
Distribution of the face masks
We are delighted to report that over 1000 Secret Face Masks the women have stitched have been distributed free of charge to adults and children most in need throughout the region. People were really thrilled to have been given these masks and we likewise were thrilled to be able to do something for communities towards helping to slow the spread of Covid-19.
But it's not just about helping to slow the spread of the virus...
Our Secret Face Masks for India appeal means that we can continue to empower women in India through training and the making and selling of clothing and homeware. We have been able to pay the women who have stitched the masks a good income, which has been invaluable at this incredibly difficult time for India.
How can you get involved?
We have set an ambitious, but we believe achievable target of making and distributing 10,000 Secret Face Masks in 3 regions of India. Help us to reach this target by sponsoring a pack/s of masks for adults and/or children here.
